I spent years in academic and research lab settings working on computer visualization and when I started Mersive to transform this work into commercial products military and training simulation was the best initial fit.  That said, I always had a vision of much broader applications for large format, incredibly high-resolution (well beyond HD) displays at a very low cost. Imagine a 12 million pixel wall in a children’s classroom being used to visualize the solar system. I’d love nothing better than to know these technologies could inspire the next Carl Sagan. Imagine pixel-rich environments in our public spaces that are shared and pervasive. How will this change the way we express ourselves and communicate with one another? I’m excited because in 2010 there was a notable shift in this direction by my company, Mersive.

Our significant progress to innovate a super high performance result at a price point that is a tenth of what was historically the case, intersected with a growing demand from broader commercial markets that rely heavily on advanced computer visualization, such as consumer packaged goods, oil and gas and product engineering, created a sea change of a year in my eyes.

It is very exciting to see our solutions gain adoption and market share outside our legacy market. This new year is going to be a big one for both Mersive and the industry.

About Christopher Jaynes

Jaynes received his doctoral degree at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst where he worked on camera calibration and aerial image interpretation technologies now in use by the federal government. Jaynes received his BS degree with honors from the School of Computer Science at the University of Utah. In 2004, he founded Mersive and today serves as the company's Chief Technology Officer. Prior to Mersive, Jaynes founded the Metaverse Lab at the University of Kentucky, recognized as one of the leading laboratories for computer vision and interactive media and dedicated to research related to video surveillance, human-computer interaction, and display technologies.

    Mersive technologies are making it easier for our academic customers to realise such visions. We have seen a shift in the market place not to be so fearful of managing large multichannel displays since we have been selling automatic calibration solutions, many schools are now looking at classrooms of the future, we have worked on such projects and displays are going to play a key part.
    Well done to Mersive on your excellent growth.
